On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2014, MacchinazioniTeatrali and Laboratorio Alchemico invite artists and designers to interact with the green areas of the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan , which are mostly neglected within the structure.
“The Secret Gardens” focuses on the development and the interaction between art and nature, inviting visitors to discover unknown and mysterious corners and places of the Fabbrica del Vapore. Artists from Italy and Japan (two of the three countries that will take part in the project PARKS IN THE WORLD) will be involved in non-invasive interventions of contemporary art interacting with the nature of this place, recovering, enriching and enhancing the landscape, in site-specific works that will bring the atmosphere and energy of the place, its history and its function. The materials used will be different due the specifications of the research of every artist.
The spaces affected by the interventions will be the area of MacchinazioniTeatrali and the courtyard adjacent to it, the garden at the entrance on Via Luigi Nono 7, the large garden on Via Luigi Nono 9, and other three works will take place in the main square of the factory in via Procaccini 4.
One of the interesting aspects of the event will be the contrast of the concepts of indoor area and outdoor area. Exterior works en plein air will be followed by some desktop-gardens within the space of MacchinazioniTeatrali , which are sophisticated table-gardens where art and design come together green.
Prof. Hal SOWA Ph.D. and six artists from Japan will bring seven art works of these unique gardens and Italian artists will realize a personal version of these impressive works.
